Companions in Christ
All of us know what it's like to be hurt or betrayed. Often it's a small breach such as being spoken to rudely or overlooked in a time of need. Other times we experience lies, gossip, or harsh words that cut us to the core. Some of us have endured unspeakable pain through abuse, adultery, or abandonment. God knows the pain we cause each other and longs to help us learn to practice forgiveness. Nowhere do we see forgiveness played out more fully in Scripture than in the biblical story of Joseph.
This six-week study explores what God has to say to us about grace and forgiveness through Joseph's story of trial and triumph found in Genesis 37-50
Companions in Christ will meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month beginning at 1:00 pm in the church office. Mary Frantz is the bible study leader.
Odd Wednesday Bible Study
On every first and third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm we have an informal Bible study at Brandon and Cari's home. Just bring your Bible and we'll read through verses and discuss them, discovering God's love to build up our faith in the Body of Christ. Please send an e-mail to Kathy deGruchy if you are interested in joining.
Women's Bible Study
Jeri O'Dell is leading a women's bible study group. We meet on the second Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Panera on Wilmington Pike. We will be studying "A Deeper Look at James" by Andrew and Phyllis LePeau. This book is available at most Christian Bookstores and on Amazon. Please send an e-mail Jeri O'Dell or call her at (937) 266-6515 to let her know if you are planning on participating. All women are invited. Feel free to invite a friend who does not attend our Church.
MONDAY EVENING BOOK STUDY:
For this week, read chapter 1 - 5 of Rev. Dr. William Barber II The Third Reconstruction: how a Moral Movement Is Overcoming the Politics of Division. Everyone is invited to participate on Monday, January 30, 7 -8 pm. Barbara Miller will lead a study group discussion and conversation.
Adult Sunday School
Starting November 27th, 2016, we will begin a new book titled "The Redemption of Scrooge". "The Redemption of Scrooge" is based on Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol" and will explore the world of Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the Cratchits, with an eye to Christian Faith. Along the way we will meet the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come and learn about living with and for others in a world blessed by Jesus. This book is part of Matt Rawle’s Pop in Culture Series. We will finish up "What are We Fighting For" starting January 8, 2017.
