Lisa has always known the love of God in Jesus Christ. A lifelong United Methodist, Lisa gave her life to Jesus as a young teenager and began to sense the beginnings of a call to serve in pastoral ministry. She worked for two years with the Evangelical Methodist Church of Bolivia and returned to the United States with a heightened sense of both personal call and the world’s deep need to experience the grace of Christ and God’s Kingdom.

Lisa received her education at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, and at Garrett-Evangelical Theological School in Evanston, IL. She has served Spanish-speaking congregations in the Chicago area as well as in New Mexico.

Ordained a deacon and an elder in the Southern New England Annual Conference, Lisa transferred into West Ohio in 1987. She has pastored congregations of various sizes and contexts in the greater Dayton area. For the last four years Lisa has served as Pastor of Missional Imagination at Mason UMC where she provided leadership in missional living and discipleship, prayer, and care ministries.

Lisa is married to Dr. Rick Ghere, who teaches and writes in the area of Human Rights at the University of Dayton. Together they have a 21 year old son, Noah. Lisa loves to travel, read, and try new recipes.

Pastor Lisa is passionate about helping all people to grow more and more in love with God and neighbor – just as Jesus commands.”
