RISK-TAKING

MISSION

AND

SERVICE

2010

Kim Lunay, Chairperson

The Risk-taking Mission and Service ministry helps persons get out of their comfort zones and engage in actual face to face ministries within our community and abroad.  Where impossible to go face to face, we are committed to sending money and supplies to help persons know the love of Jesus.

Recommendations for mission organizations that the church can support are always welcomed. Please provide as much information as you can about the organization. The mission organization should be faith-based, meet a physical and/or spiritual need, be fiscally responsible, and appeal to a broad range of people. Non faith-based organizations are also considered if their service is in harmony with Christian values.

MAKING DISCIPLES FOR THE

TRANSFORMATION OF THE WORLD

The Missions ministry of Bellbrook United Methodist Church is committed to extravagant generosity in time, service, and finances.  Your contributions to the general budget of our church will provide local, national, and world mission ministry as described below.  Exceptions to the giving through the general budget are the Coins for Christ, the Christmas offering, and the Special offerings of the United Methodist Church.

Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center serves families in the Bellbrook – Sugarcreek Township area of Greene County through children’s programs, food supplies, and emergency needs.

Habitat for Humanity of Greene County

Habitat is an international program whose goal is to provide an opportunity for clean, safe housing for families in need, and has built over 100,000 houses around the world.  Habitat of Greene County is always in need of skilled volunteers, meals for workers, and donations.

Bellbrook/Sugarcreek Local

Benevolence Funds

We commit a portion of our annual Christmas offering for the ministerial association to use in coordination with St. Vincent DePaul at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Family Resource Center to help persons in our city and township with rent, utility bills, and other emergency needs.  Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County

Family Violence Prevention Center

The Center provides the following services: 24-hour Crisis Line Support, temporary housing and residential programs for victims of domestic violence, counseling, Prevention/Education programs in junior and senior high schools and at the Juvenile Detention Center, Crisis Intervention Program, Children’s Care and Activities during shelter stay.   Good used items donated to Xenia Goodwill and designated for the Family Violence Prevention Center will provide credit vouchers for the center so guests of the shelter may purchase items with the vouchers.  A portion of our 2009 Christmas offering goes to this organization.

St. Paul United Methodist Church

St Paul is a mission church in East Dayton.  We serve lunch to community people once or twice a year and help with the Christmas store.  A member of the congregation serves on the advisory board for the Young Peacemakers Club and our congregation provides resources to help with the programs.  We also provide used books for use by the local community (at no cost) and used clothing and household items for their second hand shop.
